Why Online or Blended Learning

Staff that have attended and received accredited Occupational Health and safety training is essential in any professional working environment in South Africa. This is a necessity for compliance by the Department of Labour. The validity of these courses are for 2 – 3 years then re-training is required.

At METS and Dynamikos, we understand that training courses not only cost money but it also requires a considerable amount of time away from the workplace. That is why we have built an online E-Learning platform so that individuals can complete courses, stay compliant and not be away from their work places for long periods of time!

For example, for an employee to attain a First Aid Level 1 qualification (the minimum First Aid requirement from the Department of Labour), it will entail two days away from work. This places a burden on employers, who not only need to cover the costs of the courses but also still need to pay their workers for the out-of-office days.

Our blended learning programs save time and money while still allowing you to comply with government regulations. Through these programs, you can access and complete the theory sections of the course online, on your own devices and at your own time. Only once the online portion of the course is complete, do you attend the practical sessions. In the case of First Aid Level 1, this means two days in the classroom cut down to a couple of hours.

Our Story

Established in 2017, METS began by offering the highest quality Medical Emergency Courses following local and international guidelines.

Soon METS formed working relationships with many professional registration bodies and organisations to facilitate courses.

By 2019, METS collaborated with Dynamikos Training Company in the Western Cape, allowing both companies to increase their network of trainers and offer courses throughout Southern Africa.

Over the years as both companies grew, so did the partnership. In 2023 , both METS and Dynamikos agreed to formalise their partnership where both companies can offer a vast array of services througout Southern Africa. These services include, Medical Emergency Courses for Health Care Professionals, First Aid Courses, Occupational Health and Safety Courses and also Medical Screenings.

Companies

Training your staff as per the requirement of the Occupational Health & Safety Act No 85 of 1993. Certificates are emailed and record is kept of all training completed.

First Aid Training Level 1

(Unit Standard 119567)

VIEW

Purpose of Course:

To enable staff members of companies to carry out the tasks of a First Aider within the workplace according to the requirements of the OHS Act 85 of 1993.

Target Group:

For all employees working in any professional working environment.

The content of this course complies with the guidelines of the Department of Labour, it is also accredited by MERSETA + Plus elective modules customised to meet the needs of the workplace.

For Healthcare Professionals, they will be awarded 16 CPD Points through the HPCSA on Completion of the Course.

• Training: 50% theory & 50% practical
• Evaluation: 30% theory & 70% Practical
• Competency in CPR is compulsory

First Aid Training Level 2

VIEW

Purpose of the course:

To build on the knowledge acquired in First Aid Level 1 and to enable learners who perform a task in the outdoors as this course has modules on snake & other animal bites as well as environmental casualties such as heat stroke and exposure to extreme cold.

Target group:

Candidates with a valid First Aid Level 1 certificate, field guides, tourist guides and employees working in the outdoors (construction, nature conservation etc).

This course will enable the learner to take leadership in emergency situations. More focus is place on serious injuries and illnesses.

Employees of companies where there is a higher risk of serious injuries.

First Aid Workshop

VIEW

Purpose of the course:

To provide general knowledge of basic first aid principles to enable the learner to cope with minor casualties until expert help arrives.

Target group:

Employees who do not have to comply with the OHS Act 85 of 1993, but wish to have a general knowledge of first aid, school children, and candidates with a low literacy.

Course outline:

  1. The Management of an Emergency Scene

  2. The Primary Survey

  3. CPR techniques for Adult casualties or CPR techniques for Child and Infant casualties

  4. Foreign body airway obstruction (Choking)

  5. Bleeding

First Aid Training Compact - Level 1, 2, 3

Paediatric CPR And Basic First Aid

VIEW

Purpose of the course:

To empower caregivers with the right knowledge and skills to be able to respond correctly to any childhood medical emergency. This knowledge can mean the difference between life and death. We really want to encourage you to take the time to learn these extremely valuable skills. You will learn how to keep a child / infant alive while waiting for the emergency services and will also learn how to deal with minor incidents/emergencies.

Target group:

Parents, grandparents, nannies and anyone responsible for the care of children and infants between the ages of 0 and 12 years.

Course outline:

  1. How to alert the emergency services

  2. CPR, Choking, Drowning

  3. Management of Shock

  4. Bleeding and Wounds

  5. Burn wounds, Fractures

  6. Head injuries (Concussion)

  7. Poisoning and Insect Bites

  8. High fever (Febrile convulsions)

For this course we have regular course dates where individuals can slot in – see the entry form for dates & venue. We can also present the course at your house for a minimum of 10 people.
